What we collect

  • Your account: your name and email address, from signing up.
  • Your receipts: the photos and PDFs you upload, and what we read from them: store, warehouse, date, each item with its item number, price, discount and quantity, and the totals.
  • From the CostCash browser extension: the same receipt details, taken from your costco.ca account when you press Send all receipts. It sends only in-warehouse purchases: items, prices, discounts, date, warehouse and totals. It does not send your payment card, membership number or Costco password, and your Costco sign-in never leaves your browser.
  • Your preferences: your province, and whether you want email alerts.

Why

To do what CostCash is for: compare what you paid with current deals, tell you when you can claim a price adjustment and by when, and show your spending and savings. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to decide credit.

Who helps us run it

  • Clerk handles sign-in.
  • OpenAI reads the receipt photos and PDFs you upload, sorts items into spending categories, and writes your insights.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Vercel hosts the site and API; your data is kept in a managed Postgres database.

The browser extension

The extension reads your CostCash sign-in from costcash.ai so it can send receipts to your account. It reads your receipts on costco.ca in your own browser, using the sign-in you made there. It keeps a list of receipts already sent, in your browser, so it doesn't send them twice. It doesn't read any other site.

Your choices

You can delete any receipt in the app, and turn off email alerts with the link in any alert email. To delete your account and everything in it, email info@costcash.ai.
